East. The Port of Kandla is situated in the Kandla Creek and
is 90 km from the mouth of Gulf of Kachchh.
KANDLA Port serves as
a gateway for the West and North of India. The hinterland
of the Port consists of J & K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh,
Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat and parts of Madhya
Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

BERTHING FACILITIES
Alongside berths:
At present KPT is having 8 along side dry cargo berths
in straight line having length of 2,033 meters, which
can accomodate 9 large size or 10/11 medium size vessels.
The berths are equipped with electric level luffing
cranes.
Allotment of two berths for container vessels.
4 berths for export cargo vessels.
3 berths for import cargo vessels.
1 berth for M/s. GeePee Cargo (Reserved for private
participation).
The negotiable length of tanker at :
OJ-I & OJ-II - 1,120’ (700’ + 420’)
OJ-II & OJ-III - 1,260’ (560’ + 700’)
OJ-IV - 700’
In addition to above KPT has the following
facilities :
- Stream loading facility - 5 moorings
- Two virtual jetties converted into permanent jetties
to handle IOC/HPC’s tankers
- Unconventional methods of handling HSD & Non-Hazardous
liquid cargo through barges and dolphins.
Facilities to handle Cargo by small vessels:
- Bunder Basin : Used for handling
barges
- Tuna Port : Situated 24 kms away,
it is a Minor Port used for crafts.
Steel Floating Dry Dock of length
95 mtrs, width 20 mtrs and draft 5 mtrs accommodates
vessels up to 2,500 DWT for repairs, survey of hull
and underwater fittings/appendages of the Port as well
as private crafts.

| OFFSHORE OIL TERMINAL (OOT) -
VADINAR The Kandla Port Trust commissioned
the OffShore Oil Terminal facilities in 1978 jointly
with Indian Oil Corporation by providing Single Buoy
Mooring (SBM) systems, each having a capacity of 10
MMTPA, which was first of its kind in India.
SBM System at Vadinar :
Two Single Buoy Moorings to handle Very Large Crude
Oil Tankers (VLCC’s) for import of crude oil at Vadinar
near Jamnagar with pumping capacity of 5,000 tonnes
per hour and 24 million tonnes per annum. Crude is being
imported for Mathura Refinery and Baroda Refinery.
